Hello Wolfgang Racing Fans!
We wanted to try and get some bugs worked out before we make our huge debut at Bugorama 71 in Sac on May 26th... so we were stoked to get the chance to do a match race against Eserini Racing during the NASA Quick 8 event!
Here's what went down:
The day started off pretty bad, by dropping the rear of the dragster off the jack, putting the jack through the puke tank.. So the gang raced back to our shop, tried to bend it back to its shape, weld it, then headed back to the drag strip. That took 3 hours. Our first run, we tried some extended tip spark plugs and had a jet on the fuel system go out, we ran a 7.67, while dropping a hole around 900ft. Came back to do the maintenance, noticed spark plug on #3 was annihilated. We had burned the ground strap clean off, burned electrode half way down and destroyed porcelain around the electrode. On leaking down the engine, #3 had a 50% leak down. #4 has a 30% leak down. We prefer to see numbers under 20. The decisiosn was made to run it anyway. So we put in conservative spark plugs, and added more fuel. Then we had a match race against Eserini Racing. We were supposed to have a heads up race but with a 5/10 tree, what we got was a pro tree, he treed us, but not by much. I caught him, and until 900ft couldnt see him, though I had him. Then we dropped a hole and I saw his front end, then rear end, then his parachute. He had won. After talking to Andrew Eserini he said he couldn't see me either and though he had me, but he knew I was right there beasue he could hear me. After that race, we decided that any more running would do more damage to the one head. Eserini ran a 7.** and we ran a 7.57
