Why the hell did we want to build a front engine dragster? Well, it has been a long time coming. We wanted to prove that we are just as BAD ASS as the V8 guys in the heritage series... We were told we could feel free to run the 7.0 Pro class... IF we could keep up and IF we had a front engine dragster. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. The concept was designed by Steve Phillips and Gene Adams. Steve then started sending deposits to Bill Comstock in Oregon. About 1 1/2 years ago, Bill could finally get started on building the chassis. The original idea was to get it sent to us as a rolling chassis, then our crew chief, Danny Miller, would place and weld all the mounts. Then sadly, we lost not only our crew chief, but a great friend. Bill stepped up and did all the mounts that Danny was going to do at almost no cost to us. This dragster is dedicated to the memory of our great friend Danny. Steve is going to honor his promise to Danny, stating that if Steve gets a 6.9, he will cut his pony tail off, in front of EVERYONE.
We picked up the chassis from Bill back in October, and have slowly been plugging away at it. Our hope is that it will be ready to show at our show&shine on April 19th, here at our shop in Redding, CA. (This is also the weekend of Kool April Nites, a show you will want to see!) This will be the first time it will be shown to the public. Our next goal is to show and race it at Bugorama in May in Sacramento.
The engine we are using is our 98% Nitro engine (the other dragster will get the old twin turbo engine again). The Nitro engine will make 900hp, once tuned right (we’re getting closer to that). It goes through 3 gallons of Nitro per pass, and 9 quarts or oil per pass as well. It’s got a 225 inch wheel base, a 44 amp mag, and a 10.5 gal/min fuel pump. It will have a 1/2 body, painted by our own Chaz Ling.
