The seals protect the check rods, keeping dirt and grime from getting into the doors. If you have one piece windows on a bug, these stock stops will not work. These pins are in the door hinges. They are a real pain to get out, but we've found an air hammer works the best. Sometimes that doesn't even work, so have a case of penetrating oil on hand. It's better to repair the door hinges before you paint the car. The plug is a good idea to have as well, they easily plug into the top of the hinge pin.
