These two boots connect the intake manifold with the end casting. It's a good idea to replace them if you have the manifold apart. These are probably the number one source of intake leaks on dual port motors. We have tried the split boots and aren't pleased with them because they tend to leak. It's worth the effort to put the stock boots on. Note: Squirt some oil on the inside of the boots for easier installation.
